EL DIATREMA DE CERRO NEGRO

Abstract

Cerro Negro es una eminencia topográfica, relativamente aislada, localizada al Nordeste de la cuenca del río Patía, entre las poblaciones de Almaguer y La Vega, cuya litología sugiere la presencia de una intrusión de poca profundidad, de la cual probablemente alcanzó a presentarse una fase efusiva. Las características tectónicas, estructurales y petrográficas sugieren la ocurrencia de explosiones freato-magmáticas, seguidas por la inyección de magma, con la consiguiente formación de un diatrema. Las manifestaciones minerales en dicho cerro, están relacionadas con el fenómeno referido.
