DESARROLLOS CIENTÍFICOS DE CENICAFÉ EN LA ÚLTIMA DÉCADA

Abstract

El café se reconoce como el principal producto de la economía colombiana en el siglo XX. La Federación de Cafeteros creó a Cenicafé en 1938 logrando la consolidación de un equipo de científicos nacionales que han hecho destacados aportes en materia de ciencia y tecnología. Se destacan las actividades en los últimos diez años, en los cuales se fortaleció la investigación sobre resistencia genética a la roya del cafeto, la implementación del manejo integrado de la broca del café, la tecnología del beneficio ecológico, las investigaciones sobre biodiversidad y la iniciación del proyecto sobre el genoma del café, de la broca y del hongo entomopatógeno Beauveria bassiana.
