Through the CARDER – National University agreement, a geophysical campaign was carried out in the Cerritos area, a rural area of the city of Pereira. This campaign consisted of the acquisition, processing, modeling and interpretation of gravimetric, magnetic, geoelectric, and seismic data in an area of 210.75 km 2. From the implementation of the different geophysical measurements and previous studies, it was defined that the study area contains a free to semi-confined aquifer defined by the Pereira Formation (Tqp) of Plio-Pleistocene age, which is characterized by presenting layers with lateral heterogeneity, and is made up of two main sequences, the upper one of volcanic ash, and the lower one of volcaniclastic flows, whose thickness reaches 750m, is being controlled by the Cartago and Barroso Formations, which in turn are being affected by the tectonic activity of the area, where reverse faults help produce uplifts of the basement and changes in thickness of the Pereira Formation, which can affect the groundwater circulation system, manifested by changes in electrical resistivity in the subsoil. |
